Shoot Par Kids Club

The Shoot Par Kids Club offers a change from the normal format of junior group coaching. We believe that the best way to introduce kids to the game is through having fun while playing, so we let them go for it on the golf course right from the beginning. However, we set the course up to their level of experience.

The basic goal for each of our juniors is to achieve the score of PAR. By focusing on a learning process that takes place from green to tee-box (versus the traditional tee-box to green method), it allows us to challenge our juniors on course to achieve par from a distance relative to their ability and experience.

Each session begins with a minimum of 3 holes played on course. We organize the juniors into colour groups based on the tee colour they are playing from. Each junior will begin the program on the Orange Tees and as they achieve PAR will move back through the levels.

Once the on-course game has been completed by all groups, we move to our short game practice area and stage a 30 min clinic on the short game (pitching, chipping & putting). Each session runs for approximately 90 mins.

Shoot Par Tee Colour Groupings

Orange Tee – 45m from Green

Red Tee – 90m from Green

White Tee – 135m from Green

Purple Tee – Junior Markers

Development Group

Once a junior has reached the Junior Markers (Purple Tees) they automatically enter our development group which is targeted at helping each junior achieve a handicap so they continue on with their golfing journey.

Each session begins with 9 holes played from the Purple Tees. These tees are officially rated by NZ Golf and therefore eligible to be used for handicap purposes. In order to attain a handicap, each junior must complete a total of 54 holes.

After the 9-hole game, the group will take part in a 30 min clinic covering a different area of the game each week. The areas covered include:

  • Driving
  • Iron play
  • Pitching
  • Chipping
  • Bunker play
  • Putting
